Establishing goals is an effective way of making changes in your life and organizing your intentions. You'll find that this is only a starting point because you must take some form of action if you going to work towards meeting those goals. But what happens along the way is that it becomes easy to get discouraged when we look ahead and see how far we have left to go. There's a familiar saying that talks about the importance of enjoying the journey and not just being focused on the destination. What that journey should consist of are small steps along the way, as those small steps are responsible for the bigger accomplishments. While it is important not to be focused on the past, as that is where you have been, you should still consider how far along you’ve come in this journey of progress.
When people abandon their goals it is often due to a sense of frustration, being overwhelmed, or feeling that there is still too far to go. By looking at the small steps taken you realize that you are incrementally making progress. This can bring about a sense of self renewal and purpose. A common word for this experience is empowerment and what that means is a feeling that you are in control of your life, the decisions you make, and the mental attitude you possess.
Sometimes the smaller steps along the way are the biggest hurdles and the greatest obstacles you have had to face and overcome. You do not need to reach the final step or completion of the last goal to feel a sense of accomplishment. Your feelings are the journey. Progress is the proof or evidence you need to confirm that you can accomplish your goals and make your dreams a reality. The end result or the outcome is more than just the completion of your goals; it is the culmination of your beliefs powered by the action you've taken to get there.
As a means of helping you learn how to recognize the steps you've taken, here is a plan to follow:
Start by creating goals. What do you want to accomplish? Dream big!!
Take action. Do something that begins the process of change.
Enjoy the experience of expanding your capacity to learn and grow.
Progress happens incrementally. Notice how determined you’ve become.
See the evidence of your accomplishments through the power of your beliefs.
There is power in your unlimited potential.
Wishing you the best,
